Boots, boots, boots.

Boots are in! From riding boots, to boots with fringe, boots with fur, UGG boots, Western boots, and even the bootie. Boots have arrived in force, and they aren't just keeping feet warm, they're marching up and down the streets proclaiming the new fashion.

 Riding boots

The riding boot was originally used simply to ride horses. They usually had a lower heel and came up higher around the calf to protect the leg while riding. But in the last year or so, the riding boot has become popular outside of the stables. Designers such as Steve Madden and Michael Kors have made their own personal spin on the riding boot, transforming it from a simply utilitarian object to a fashion forward trend. They can be seen on girls at sporting events, parties, and a variety of other dressy-casual occasions.

Boots and Fringe

The Fringe boot became popular when the Native American/Southwestern style was re-introduced: turquoise, tribal prints, headbands and the fringe boot. The brand Minnetonka is the most popular for the fringe boots, with multi-layers of suede leather climbing up the leg. Hundreds of years ago, the moccasin was worn by Native Americans, whose style also crossed with the "cowboy-look".

UGG Boots

UGG boots have been around since 1978 and began as boots that were worn by surfers in Australia. They came over into the U.S. about 30 years ago, but only not until about 2007 did they become a trend. By 2008 they were everywhere, their "classic" style being the most popular. Recent styles with UGGs are leggings and Nike shorts; although it's not the most attractive look, it's known for being worn by teen/ college aged girls.

Western Boots

Western boots have been mostly a southern style for the past hundred years, worn to country style dances and while working on farms. But since Taylor Swift has become a teenage icon, and with the rise of the Boho style, the western boot is back. Usually worn with cotton dresses or Miss Me jeans on girls, it is also worn with jeans, or even khakis on guys. It is a trend that is not only for women, but also men, unlike other recent fashion trends.
